Increased Demand From Conscious Consumers For Organic, Clean Beauty Products Results In High Numbers Of Sales

According to a recent report that says over half of Indian consumers reported ‘natural or organic’ features influencing hair and skincare purchase decisions.

What drives purchases of products like shampoo, cosmetics, essential oils, hair colour etc? Its words like ‘natural’, ‘organic’, ‘paraben-free’, ‘cruelty- free’, ‘vegan’ or free from some harsh chemicals, show data from a survey carried out by research firm Euromonitor. Consumers today are more conscious about their health and are investing in natural and organic products. This proves what’s inside the jar is increasingly important as what’s not.

According to a recent report that says over half of Indian consumers reported ‘natural or organic’ features influencing hair and skincare purchase decisions. At first, this was initiated by millennials. However, now other generations are balancing their buying decisions with social, political and economical convictions. Considering the above, here are a few more reasons that have boosted the increase in the demand for conscious consumerism.

The damage created by harsh chemicals 

India, a country that has deep-rooted beliefs in herbal and ayurvedic ingredients for hair care and skincare has spurred demand for natural beauty and personal care products as a safer alternative. In 2020 consumers are seeking convenience in beauty and personal care routines and are aware of the damaging effects of harsh chemicals. In a market like India awareness and benefits of herbal or botanical ingredients is high and if there is a time to alter your purchase from regular personal care products to organic and clean products, it is now!

Brands that offer a holistic and effective solution 

Consumers are looking for simplicity. Brands with too much complexity and claims hard to understand the need to revisit their consumer proposition. Today consumers are looking for personalized simpler ways to combat their skincare or haircare concerns. Traditionally brands that claimed to provide results were mostly mass-produced. The best part about clean and organic personal care products is that it has a holistic approach towards beauty and wellness that are result-oriented. 

Increase of conscious consumerism amidst the pandemic

Consumers now actively purchase multiple ways to positively impact society and the people living in it. For the beauty industry, there has been an upward trend in the purchase of organic products. Conscious consumerism has been incremental in driving the sales of clean, natural and organic beauty products progressively. Clean beauty was already quite dynamic pre-pandemic but has been further amplified during the COVID- 19 era.

Environmental friendly 

Natural skincare products are better for the environment than are synthetic skincare products. These beauty products are made with natural ingredients that are grown without harmful pesticides or fertilizers. All- natural and organic products are not tested on animals, do not release harmful chemicals and are beneficial to the eco-system. The package of the products is not made of plastic which is one of the best aspects of organic beauty brands!
