India’s oldest business school XLRI with its uniquely famed XL culture has a strong emphasis on the importance of ethics in business life since its inception. The institute is the first business school in the country to offer Business Ethics as a compulsory course.

Xavier School of Management, now XLRI, offers full-time flagship management programmes in Business Management, Human Resource Management, Global MBA and General Management. The institute also provides part-time and virtual training through interactive learning.

Situated in the steel city of Jamshedpur, XLRI was founded in 1949 by Fr. Quinn Enright and later enriched by Jesuit Fathers. For the past decades, XLRI is known to have the best gender ratio among its different courses, whereas many business schools find it hard to maintain the balance in the same regard. Inspired by the Jesuit spirit of ‘Magis’, XLRI works on a specific set of values known as Ethical Conduct, Integrity and Trust, Passion for Excellence, Sensitive Social Conscience, Inclusiveness and Tolerance, Global Mindset, Creativity and Innovation.

The core focus of XLRI is to nurture responsive ethical leaders, who are sensitive to the environment and society. There is also a deep inclination towards a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. The institute is ranked overall seventh under MHRD’s NIRF rankings.

The XLRI is expanding its wings to other parts of the country in order to provide another platform to students to gain quality education from this age-old institution. The foundation stone for the Jhajjar campus in Delhi-NCR has been laid. It is planning to open its new campus in Delhi-NCR for the academic session 2020-22 with two sections of its PGDBM Programme from June 2020. The institute has also laid the foundation stone at Andhra Pradesh’s Amaravati.

The oldest B-School not only in India but in the South-Asia region, XLRI enjoys its reputed position and is a dream school for aspiring management students. The institute has continued to maintain its gold standard in faculty and courses through its value-based system. Students are continuously encouraged to apply theoretical learning through case studies and research methodologies in order to solve real-life management challenges that are faced by the private, public and non-profit segment of the economy.

Entrepreneurship has always been a part of the XLRI culture and to take this forward, XLRI recently partnered with MoSDE for the National Entrepreneurship Awards, a step that truly showcases the passion and encouragement for new ventures. Taking a step further into the entrepreneurial world, it started an in-house incubator called XCEED, for budding entrepreneurs. This platform brings together investors, mentors and entrepreneurs to give their startup a nudge in the right direction.

The institute has strong connections with the industry to give its students the much-needed exposure to on-the-ground realities. XLRI boasts of over 12,000 alumni, who are managing and leading reputed organisation across the globe. XLRI’s value-based system is a notable key point for its students, faculty and the alumni.

Despite being in a non-metro city, XLRI is known for its stupendous placements at the end of every graduating season that sheds light on the quality of the pedagogy, training, academics and faculty of the institute.
