Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University’s MOOCs Course ‘Society and Media’ has been launched for the third time on the SWAYAM (Government of India) platform in a row. The Course has brought glories to the university as it was ranked among the ‘All-Time Best Course’ by an international MOOCs course aggregator Class Central.

It is the only Media related course in the Top 100 Courses ranked by the portal based on the reviews received by its learners. The Course faced stiff competition from premier universities of the world that included Princeton University, Harvard University, Yale University among others.

The enrolment for the four-credit course is now open for the learners. The interdisciplinary course spans over 15 weeks and the final assessment will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). The course saw participation from more than 1270 learners in its last run. Any student or learners can enroll themselves in the course free of cost until February 2021.

Dr. Durgesh Tripathi of the University School of Mass Communication has been successfully running the course for two consecutive years now. Dr. Tripathi believes that ‘students should take up interdisciplinary courses on the SWAYAM platform for enhancing their academic horizon. He believes that the ‘Society and Media’ course can be beneficial for the students in an age where Media Literacy is increasingly becoming the life skills. The course will help the learners to discover the interlinkages between contemporary society and media as an institution.”
