How To Use Twitter To Net Jobs

A recent study came out with a very interesting observation. Micro-blogging site Twitter has helped users in finding better jobs. The scope of new media in India has grown exponentially over the last years and the impact that mediums like Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn, have on users has also become substantial. Those days are long past us, when these mediums were used only for photo-sharing, chatting and updating personal information.
 
Twitter for instance has seen a dramatic increase in users, and is providing job seekers more opportunity than any other social networking platforms. However, recruiters are less enthusiastic about hiring employees from Twitter. The primary reason behind this is that there is no regulation on job postings, and there is no provision of actually getting to know potential employees via this medium alone.  Currently, an employee can only get to know about any company if it is trending, and that too happens if any particular event of the company is of some reckoning.
 
#Jobsearch is one way in which job seekers can get in touch in with openings and recruitment processes of any company. The problem though has clouded this way too. Unaccounted tweets, spams, junks, and many times promotional tweets impede the job searching process. No wonder, the employee as well as the employer is still very skeptical about using this as a viable medium.
However, considering the immense potential here are few ways by which Twitter can actually benefit users:
 
1. Verification of tweets and sources when it comes to usage of #jobsearch. Filtering out tweets that pollute the handle will increase authentication and will lead to more objectivity.
 
2. Organisations that have openings should use their official twitter handle to inform users. They should then start their own hash tags and make all efforts to trend the development.
 
3. Since, with any trending topic, numerous tweets keep popping up every second, and as then this makes searching for the required event very cumbersome, Twitter should segregate potential jobs according to region, industry and sectors under which they operate.
 
Social Networking sites have made a rather rapid penetration into the Indian market, and their scope needs to widen as there is a market that is waiting to be tapped into.
