As ‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams’ completes 21 days at the Indian theatres, it has managed to score a half century at the box office.

The docu-drama, that released on 26 May, 2017 completes three weeks at the box office, but the question at the moment is whether it managed to sustain audiences or not?

Directed by James Erskine and starring the legend of cricket himself, ‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams’ is a documentary drama that narrates the story of the god of cricket. As of 16 June, the film has done a business of over Rs 50 crore at the Indian box office. The biopic has managed to sustain audiences and was released across 2400 screens nationwide and 400 screens overseas.

Having recorded a business of Rs 28.05 crore on its first weekend itself, it witnessed a downfall in its box office collection in its third week. According to Box Office Collection India, the docu-drama saw 38 per cent drop in its box office collection on its 2nd Friday and only managed a business of Rs 1.48 crore.

As compared to last year’s much anticipated biopic, ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’, which registered a box office collection of approx. Rs 133.56 crore in its first month at the indian box office, some would say that ‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams’ has a lot to catch up on. In its third week itself, Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s biopic managed a total business of Rs 8.02 crore with Rs 5.64 crore over the weekend and Rs 2.38 crore on weekdays.
