Himanshu Mody Named As Group Corporate Director Of BCCL
Mody will be based in BCCL’s CST Mumbai office and will report to the Shareholder Group & work closely with the CEOs of group business entities.

Bennett Coleman & Co. Ltd (BCCL) has appointed Himanshu Mody as Group Corporate Director, according to reports. He was former Essel Group Head of Finance & Strategy. As Group Corporate Director for Times Group, Himanshu will be responsible for Capital Allocation & Fund Management, in alignment with the vision & thinking of the Shareholders.
He will also provide oversight to shareholders on matters of Corporate Governance, Legal & Tax efficiencies and related financial aspects of existing & new businesses, besides overseeing legal & structural requirement of investments & Trusts.
He will report to the Shareholder Group & work closely with the CEOs of group business entities to support both Organic & Inorganic long term growth. He will be based out of BCCL’s CST office in Mumbai.
The appointment was announced by BCCL vice-chairman Samir Jain and MD Vineet Jain.
After a long stint, Mody resigned from the Essel Group in November 2019. At Essel, he was heading the group finance & strategy for its businesses in Media & Entertainment, News & Information, Education, Infrastructure, Gaming, Wellness, and Lifestyle.
Mody has a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, from Huron University, and a Master of Science in Finance from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow.
With over two decades of experience, he has the distinction of having successfully led Finance and Strategic initiatives for the entire Essel Group, including Fund Raising, Private Equity, Divestment, Resource Allocation, Risk Management & M&A across business entities, thereby contributing immensely to the overall growth of the group.
He spearheaded key Merger & Acquisition Projects for the Zee Group for which he worked directly with the group’s chairman Subhash Chandra.
Mody is also credited to have started Fun Republic Chain of multiplexes and was instrumental in the launch of Zee Sports Channel and acquisition of Ten Sports. He also launched the Indian Cricket League (ICL) & led the successful merger of DTH (direct-to-home) businesses of Dish TV and Videocon d2h, creating Asia’s largest DTH company.
