Vaishnavi Raju, Founder, Hera a Hyderabad based health tech start-up dedicated to women believes that it’s time for women to take charge of their personal health and well-being. Statistics say that out of the 500+ million women in India, 50% of them are between the ages of 18-35, who need to navigate through various stages such as intimacy, fertility, pregnancy, and maternity. And these stages of life often lead to problems such as PCOD, low sexual desire, infertility, postpartum depression, etc. for which they end up turning to internet to find solution. With Hera, Vaishnavi decided to extend a helping hand to women and make them understand the factors, diagnosis, and also provides treatment to all the above-mentioned health issues in better Manner.

Vaishnavi Raju recalls, “When I was studying abroad, I saw a huge gap related to women health in India and that is when I decided to start Hera, and mainly primarily break cultural taboos, bridge the health system, simplify personal health and prioritize future health for women - to put it in simpler words, to make women's health simple.”

The change has begun and it is expected that in coming times, more and more brands will start offering products and solutions in the women category and thus supporting women with the help of evolving technologies and applications such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning etc to make them more personalized. Vaishnavi’s vision for the next 5 years is to introduce personal care products, test kits, and medications, apart from vitamins and supplements. She stresses, “I would also love to leverage these technologies and others to make my offerings one-of-a-kind.”

Talking about the core of health issues related to women, she stresses, “Till today, in most cities women play the role of mother, wife, daughter-in-law and much more and amidst all this, her personal health takes a back seat, which further leads to problems such as very high levels of anxiety, stress, and sleep deprivation fuelled by competing demands of work and family. Some women also decide not to have children because they are discouraged by the lack of work-life balance demonstrated by working mothers around them.”

She believes that housewives need to take a stand and set priorities and working women need to find a workplace that gives them enough flexibility with work timings, learning to delegate tasks to ease the workload and to set both professional and personal priorities.

Focusing about the potential opportunities in future, she says, “There's so much to do regarding women's health. Right from menstruation to menopause, at every stage women needs help and thereby there is a vast scope for women entrepreneurs to innovate and invent.” The Indian market still has a lot of gaps, which need to be filled in with the right expertise and solutions, and Hera is ready to carry the torch.
