RK Singh, the Union Minister for Power and New and Renewable Energy, on Wednesday, said, the centre is all set to launch the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme which is going to support the indigenization of electrolysers.

He said that the initiative is aimed to establish the 10 gigawatt (GW) of domestic manufacturing capacity for green hydrogen.

During his address at an event organized by the Council on Energy, Environment, and Water (CEEW), Singh said the Prime Minister Modi-led centre government is dedicated to establishing a green hydrogen economy that operates at scale as it did for renewables.

Singh said that this is also going to help bring down the cost of green hydrogen. Apart from that, green hydrogen can play an important role to fulfill the requirement of Indian growing energy by decreasing our dependence on energy imports. This will ultimately help the environment to heal.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, last month, announced the National Hydrogen Mission, in order to make the country a global green hydrogen production and export hub.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has been chipping away at a comprehensive mission report determined to increase green hydrogen creation and usage in India. The broad vision is to foster native capacities and lower expenses to speed up green hydrogen reception in different spaces of potential use.
