Govt Inks Agreement With NTPC For Solar Park In Rajasthan
RSDCL will develop infrastructure in the solar park and NTPC will develop the solar projects. The agreement is likely to bring investment of more than Rs 4000 crore in the state.

Rajasthan Solarpark Development Company Limited (RSDCL) subsidiary of Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation (RREC) and NTPC limited signed an Implementation Support to develop 925 MW capacity Nokh Solar Park at Nokh, Jaisalmer. The agreement was signed by Anil Gupta, Director RSDCL and Mohit Bhargav, Executive Director of NTPC in the presence of Energy Minister - Government of Rajasthan, Dr. BD Kalla, officials of energy department, stakeholders and investors in the field of renewable energy at a ceremony in Jaipur.
According to the agreement RSDCL will develop infrastructure in the solar park and NTPC will develop the solar projects. The agreement is likely to bring investment of more than Rs 4000 crore in the state.
Chief Guest Dr. BD Kalla, Energy Minister appreciated the efforts & vision of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to promote Rajasthan as a renewable energy destination in the country.
Dr. Kalla apprised that “The state government has given many relaxations and facilities in recently issued Rajasthan Solar Energy Policy, 2019 and Rajasthan Wind and Hybrid Energy Policy, 2019. He appealed to the stakeholders and investors present at the ceremony to come forward and avail the benefits of the policies and tap the untapped vast potential of solar and wind energy available in Rajasthan,”
He asked the RREC officials to initiate research and development activities in the field of energy storage so that renewable energy can supplement the energy demand when it is most required.
Dr. BD Kalla said, “In the budget speech presented in the assembly today, the honorable Chief Minister has announced various provisions to promote solar energy in the urban areas also through rooftop solar systems. He has announced to develop district headquarters and selected cities as Green Energy Cities. He has proposed to install rooftop solar system of 300 MW in next five years. Suitable provisions have also been made in the budget for the development of solar energy,”
Principal Secretary - Energy and Chairman RRECL Shri Ajitabh Sharma said that the present signing of ISA marks a definite step towards assured investment in the field of solar energy as this agreement has been passed by the board of directors of NTPC. He further added, “With this agreement, Rajasthan will receive Rs. 462 crore in 25 years and Rs. 178 crore via GST during the construction. The solar park will bring an investment of Rs. 4000 crore to the state.”
He also elaborated on the solar energy potential in Rajasthan and state government’s commitment to promote development of renewable energy sector in the state. He also said that state is willing to take up Ultra Mega renewable energy power parks with support of CPSUs and private developers. Recently announced solar and wind policies not only take care of big stakeholders and investors it also have provisions for electric vehicle charging stations, solarization of agriculture pumps, storage technology in renewable energy, manufacturing sector, replacement of old wind turbines with new wind turbines by way of re-powering.
He apprised that in this project RSDCL will invest about Rs 450 crore in infrastructural development and NTPC is expected to invest more than Rs. 3500 crores in solar projects development. This project will also earn a revenue of Rs 18.50 crores per year in the form of contribution towards development charges for 25 years to state which will be utilized for the development of renewable energy sector and transmission sector of the state. Besides this the state government will also earn revenue in form of share in GST.
Shri. Mohit Bhargav, ED NTPC expressed his gratitude to the state government for giving them an opportunity to be a partner in development of solar energy. He expressed that besides participating in Nokh Solar Park as project developer they are also willing to develop Ultra Mega Solar Park in the state. He said that they are also interested in developing floating solar projects in the state.
