Government Appoints Amit Kataria As Joint Secretary In Department of Rural Development

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved his appointment in the Department of Rural Development.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Monday approved the appointment/premature repatriations of officers at Joint Secretary or equivalent level with pay at Level 14 of the Pay Matrix. A total of 44 officials were on the list. 

Shri Amit Kataria, lAS (CG:2004) has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Department of Rural Development for an overall tenure of five years upto 02/07/2022 from the date of assumption of the charge of the post, which is further extendable for additional two years on availability of cadre clearance, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Amit did his schooling from the Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram, New Delhi and then completed his graduation in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in the year 2001. Post his graduation, he appeared in the Civil Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission and cleared it in the year 2004. He was allotted the Indian Administrative Services (IAS) and the Chhattisgarh Cadre.

In the past he has served as the collector of Gariaband district and the Chief Executive Officer of Naya Raipur Development Authority and Raipur Development Authority. Since, 2015 he was posted as the Collector and District Magistrate, Bastar, Chhattisgarh.
