In corona times when everyone is connecting via a virtual medium, Google is exploring new ways to enhance the user experience by bringing video calls on bigger screens. This time, Google has teased that beta version of Google Duo, will be soon supported as a native app on Android TVs. Earlier, The Search engine giant also added the support for the Chromecast feature on Google Meet.

Once introduced, the users will be able to do one on one as well as group video calls on bigger screens. In case the television doesn’t have a built-in front camera, users can plug the USB web cameras to use the feature.

Introducing the feature Google in its blog said, “In an effort to bring the video calling experience to more parts of your home, Google Duo is rolling out a Beta on Android TV in the coming weeks. With Google Duo, you can initiate one-on-one and group calls from your TV, and if your TV doesn't have a camera built-in, you can simply plug in a USB camera”.

According to report of, The flat panel television (LED, LCD, HD, and UHD) market in India was valued at INR 690.16 billion in FY 2018 and is expected to reach INR 1,238.33 billion by FY 2024, expanding at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of ~9.25% during the FY 2019-FY 2024 period.

Can’t wait for the update?

Here is how you can still use your television screen for video chats.

If you have a smart television then there should be in-built a feature called Mirroring. Users can use this feature to mirror your mobile or laptop screen to a bigger screen. They just need to pair their devices and it’s done. The application will use the mobile’s camera and microphone and display the picture on a television screen.

In case your television doesn’t have an in-built mirroring feature, still users can download one of the free apps from Google play store that allows you to mirror your phone into bigger television screens.
