As the smartphone market for the mid-range is dominated by Chinese brands like OnePlus, Vivo and Oppo, Google has always been valued for the high-end Pixel devices it launches. But to tap into the mid-range section Google had to think of something new and here we are with Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL, an entry-level smartphone with a box price of Rs. 39999 and Rs. 44999 respectively. The phones are launched in India in two color options Clearly White and Just Black and a single variant of 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage.
Pixel 3a and 3a XL differ only in terms of screen size and battery capacity. We have the Pixel 3a with us for review.
Let us have the first look at Google’s Pixel 3a with all that we get inside the box.
Camera always has been the main attraction for Pixel devices. The Pixel 3a comes with a 12.2 MP dual-pixel and ƒ/1.8 aperture rear camera with optical image stabilizer which gives us a great camera experience. The phone also supports the same features as the other Pixel phones such as ‘Night Sight’, ‘Portrait Mode’, ‘Super Res Zoom’, ‘Top Shot’, ‘HDR+’ etc.
One more important thing to note is that Pixel 3a does not offer unlimited storage of the original photos as it does in the flagship Pixel 3. There is only unlimited storage for ‘high quality’ photos in Pixel 3a and 3a XL.
The phone runs on Android Pie 9.0 which gets the latest updates in security and OS before any other phones. Pixel 3a comes with a 5.6" of AMOLED display. The phone does not have a notch but comes with a standard bezel display.
We have already done a detailed listing of what Pixel 3a misses out from Pixel 3 and what it gets extra. We will also do a detailed review and comparison with competing phones very soon. Keep watching the space.
