Google India Launches Campaign To Get Women Online

With over 200 million Internet users in the country and growing, India is on its way to become the second largest Internet market in the world overtaking US. But only one third of India’s online users are women. Internet can play a very important role in empowering women in India and help them to transform their lives.

The initiative will focus on creating awareness about the benefits of Internet for women, educate women to use the Internet to improve their lives and work with partners to enable easy Internet access points for women in the country. In the first stage of the initiative, Google will launch a mass media campaign targeted at women and promote the specially designed website www.hwgo.com which will host content covering the very basics of Internet and special content that is relevant for women in India, available both in hindi and english. Women will also be able to call a toll free helpline number 1800-41-999-77 to get answers for any queries that they may have about the Internet.

The program will be supported by Intel, HUL and Axis Bank who have committed to drive this initiative through the joint outreach efforts including Internet training in their digital literacy efforts. Intel is also launching a mobile app called “Easy Step” for women which would be available on Android playstore.

Samsung Forays Into A3 Printer Category In India

Samsung Electronics has reiterated its commitment to the enterprise and SMBs with its foray into the A3 multifunction printer segment in India. The MultiXpress K2200, an eco friendly series comes fully loaded with features such as ergonomic design, compact size, advanced controls, high reliability, duplex printing and ease of operation. With this new series, the company is bullish about strengthening its position in these sectors and has developed an aggressive go-to-market strategy for tapping the market across top cities in the country. With the entry into the A3 printer segment, Samsung enterprise business aims to contribute to 10 per cent of Samsung India’s total turnover over the next few years.

Sameer Garde, Sr Vice President, Enterprise Business Team, Samsung India Electronics said, “We will continue to introduce printing solutions that are customized for regional and user environments, thereby providing perfect products that satisfy local customer needs. Over the next fiscal, we plan to become a leading player in the A3 MFP market. Keeping in line with this aim, we will be focusing on establishing and consolidating our regional distribution channel as direct partners, for A3 printers”.

The series has 33 models across its copiers, printers and MFPs that are priced between Rs 5,799 to Rs 5,00,000.

MobiKwik App Launches For Microsoft

MobiKwik, a growing mobile wallet player has announced the launch of its Application for the Windows phone platform. The development of the MobiKwik App is a joint effort with Microsoft and can be downloaded on all Windows smart phones.

It offers users the convenience and security to purchase goods and services on third party merchant websites, recharge prepaid and post-paid mobile, television/DTH, data cards and make bill payments for broadband/landline phones, electricity, gas and insurance.

With this launch, users who have been waiting patiently for an official and dedicated Windows Phone wallet app can breathe easy. Windows Phone is the second most widely used smart phone platform in India, according to a recent IDC survey. With a market share of 5.4 per cent, Windows Phone has maintained its lead over competing platforms, namely Apple iOS and Blackberry.

The MobiKwik App for the Windows Phone platform will be available for Windows Phone 7 & Windows Phone 8. The app is small in size, fast and light on the mobile phone CPU and bandwidth consumption. Users can park money, up to Rs 50,000 into the MobiKwik wallet and make hassle free payments for multiple transactions in only one click.

Microsoft Delivers Unprecedented Cloud Development Platform With Visual Studio 2013

MediaTek Launches MT6592 True Octa-Core Mobile Platform

MediaTek Incorporated has unveiled the MT6592, the world’s first true octa-core mobile platform. The MediaTek MT6592 System on a Chip (SOC) combines an advanced eight-core application processor with industry-leading multimedia capabilities and mobile connectivity for a perfect balance of performance and power consumption.
