GGSIP University Adopts Modern Teaching Methods to Tackle COVID-19

GGSIP University has taken the active step in compliance with the order issued by MHRD and UGC recently which requests all the Directors and Vice-Chancellors of Central and State Universities/Institutions to adopt the e-learning platforms in their respective teaching pedagogy for providing a blended form of learning to the students.

In the wake of global pandemic of Corona Virus (COVID-19), many countires and its institutions have been affected and have shut-down to ensure social distancing and avoiding the further spread of the virus. However, this has impacted the normal academic time-table due to the inability to conduct classroom-based instructions. Guru Gobind Indraprastha University, New Delhi which has more than 100 affiliated colleges and a large number of students in various professional courses, has adopted the ICT based learning platforms such as CEC Courses, UGC-SWAYAM, e-PG Pathshala and Google Classroom, etc. both at the university and various colleges to ensure that students do not suffer in the time of complete lockdown due to COVID-19.

This has been done under the guidance and support of Hon’ble VC. Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma, Director Development, Prof. (Dr.) A.K. Saini and Director (Academic Affairs) Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Mittal, in taking active steps for adopting various e-learning methods and tools for providing learning material to its students in various professional and inter-disciplinary programmes.  

GGSIP University has taken the active step in compliance with the order issued by MHRD and UGC recently which requests all the Directors and Vice-Chancellors of Central and State Universities/Institutions to adopt the e-learning platforms in their respective teaching pedagogy for providing a blended form of learning to the students.   

The university has also successfully set up its own committee for the development of MOOCs courses with Dr. Durgesh Tripathi as the Coordinator. Dr. Tripathi already has a MOOCs Course titled “Society and Media” running under UGC-SWAYAM. Dr. Tripathi has also been a Co-Principal Investigator of e-PG Pathshala programme under “Media and Communication Studies”. The committee comprises of more than 30 faculty members of GGSIP University from various academic backgrounds working actively in the development of MOOCs courses. The initiative is also supported by the Deans/Directors of various USS of the university.

Apart from that, fellow faculty member of the university Dr. Sayan Chatterjee of University School of Bio-Technology (USBT) has expressed how fellow faculty members are using open-source and free applications such to provide learning materials and assignments to the students through ICT.
