From 10 Cents An Hour To $12 Million A Year In Revenue

Under the mentorship of Rahul, LEDMyplace has achieved a growth rate of 810 per cent since its inception in 2016

Right after his father passed at an early age of 49 and his family struggled to put two square meals a day on the table, a 15-year-old high school dropout boy delivered air tickets while riding around 250 kilometres a day on a scooter, all while braving scorching summers and bone-chilling Delhi winters earning only about Rs100 ($1.40) a day. Such was the predicament of this boy. Nevertheless, from an early age, this boy had an entrepreneurial zest which turned the tables around. He could never have imagined that years later, he would become the powerhouse behind a multimillion-dollar energy business in the US. It never crossed his mind that this business would get ranked in the top 11 per cent of America’s fastest-growing private companies.

Last month in August 2019, Inc. 5000 released their list of the fastest-growing privately-held US businesses and the company that this boy-turned-entrepreneur built, was ranked 546th out of 5000. Rahul Anand had finally achieved his dream. Standing in the top 11 per cent of the Inc. 5000 list, LEDMyplace claimed the status of being the fourth fastest-growing company in Kentucky and the 14th fastest in the entire US energy industry.

After his arrival in the US during the sub-prime crisis of 2008, Rahul started working at a convenience store and gas station owned by a person of Indian origin. With high aspirations and an entrepreneurial itch, Rahul progressed from working at the convenience store to selling general merchandise door-to-door to other gas stations and convenience stores. After plenty of trial and error, he stepped into an industry with no prior experience and launched an e-commerce store for everything LED in 2016.

Since then, the teams at LEDMyplace have carved their own niche in the energy sector with a vast array of products, and customer service that is personal, considerate and humane. As a result, LEDMyplace soon became a dominant player in the energy market. With a strong team as the foundation, and under the mentorship of Rahul, LEDMyplace has achieved a growth rate of 810 per cent since its inception in 2016. The revenue for 2018 stood at $7.3 million and the projection for 2019 is approximately $12 million.

Inc. 5000’s annual list is considered to be a prestigious honor, which has been shared by the likes of Microsoft, Dell, LinkedIn, Yelp, Zillow, Domino’s and many other well-known companies.

Today LEDMyplace is looking towards becoming a $100 million company by 2022. Apart from LEDMyplace Rahul has also recently launched BUILDMyplace and SOLARMyplace. The former will cater to home furnishing, interior designing, fixtures and furniture while the latter will become an e-commerce marketplace for product sales and solar energy system installations.
