For The Smart Cities, We As A Bank Provide Solutions: Vinit Dhaliwal, Zonal Head – Government & Institutional, Nashik, HDFC Bank

With the need for the adoption of technology for building smarter cities, embracing digitization in the banking sector is seen to be the critical step.

With the central government’s ambitious smart cities mission being undertaken with the regular sum of the resource being pumped every year, the role of banks in supporting the building of digital infrastructure to best leverage the digital capabilities of the place is critical. Historically, the contribution of banks has been crucial in building up any place.  

With the need for the adoption of technology for building smarter cities, embracing digitization in the banking sector is seen to be the critical step. Vinit Dhaliwal, Zonal Head, Government and Institutional Business, Nashik, HDFC Bank while giving an industry presentation shared that almost 92 per cent of our transactions are on their digital platform. He further added that there are close to 43 branches in Nasik with a very low 1.38 per cent of gross NPA. “For the smart cities, we as a bank provide solutions,” Dhaliwal said. 

What specific technological developments have been supported by banks?

Dhaliwal spoke on the technology of Kiosk and how kiosks can be placed as per requirement. Elaborating further he said, there is 24/7 extended services that are integrated with an extended backhand system. He also shared about the rural development sustainable communities that the company undertakes under its Corporate Social Responsibility. He informed that they have developed a smart city app which is a mobile app for facilitating G2C services at the fingertips.
