Fake Ambassadors

Fake ambassador ‘fever’ has gone so far that even TV channels, fashion houses, fast food chains, pizza outlets, deodorants, soaps are all announcing brands

I am really worried about the glamour and fashion business.

Why what has happened?

This word ‘ambassador’ is being used so lavishly and cheaply that it has lost its meaning and value.

What do you mean by that? What has it got to do with the glamour and fashion world? According to the dictionary, an ambassador is an accredited diplomat sent by a state as its permanent representative in a foreign country.

You are so out-dated, that was the old school meaning of the word. Now it is part of the glamour and fashion business.

How is that possible to have an ambassador in fashion?

Yes, haven’t you read every day that some Bollywood star is made the ambassador? It could be for a newly opened garden or a model is the ambassador of a tea plantation.

Really is that what the neo meaning of ambassador is now?

Yes and then there are even Bollywood stars that are ambassadors of foreign holiday resorts.

Goodness, this is the limit but are they not just glorified models paid to smile and pose and then parrot good words about the place?

Of course that’s all that they do. Have you ever heard a movie star talk sense without a script?

Then why use them for a holiday resort; will it increase the flow of tourists to that place?

Not at all, tourists go to places, which fit their budget, are safe, clean and peaceful. Why would they go just because some airhead movie star is prancing around the locales?

Then why is there this big noise about ambassadors for different brands?

That is puzzling me. Even cricket matches, fashion weeks, cosmetic companies, soft drinks, makers of badminton rackets, housing colonies, residential constructions, popcorn makers and all kinds of companies announce brand ambassadors who are actually just out of work movie stars, models or sports persons.

You are so right and instead of taking just normal models they end up paying these so-called fake ‘ambassadors’ hefty fees, which affect the business that eventually has to close down.

This fake ambassador ‘fever’ has gone so far that even TV channels, fashion houses, fast food chains, pizza outlets, deodorants, soaps are all announcing brands. Many companies fashion labels and textiles manufacturers feel they are adding value to their names by appointing people from the glamour industry as their brand ambassadors.

I have never heard anything so silly.

It is definitely very silly but it’s the latest bandwagon, which companies feel they have to jump onto so that they can project a hep and trendy image.

That is so sad. The glamour and fashion business project fake lives and now they have even appointed fake ambassadors.

Yes but what is more sad is that even sane businesses are following this trend.

Well at times everyone knows life is one big fake story anyway, so a fake ‘ambassador’ just completes the whole circle.
