Facebook For Every Phone App For Feature Phones Too

In countries such as India, where the Indian mobile handset market is still dominated by feature phones, 'Facebook for Every Phone App' is optimised to use less data than other Java apps and mobile sites. Also, with the low price points, these handsets are becoming the first Internet connected device many people will own.

Facebook has announced that more than 100 million people using Facebook For Every Phone each month.

Javier Olivan, Vice President of Growth and Analytics at Facebook, said "People's first experience on the Internet is often on Facebook and this product has made it easy for people to have a great experience, no matter what kind of phone they use. It's an important milestone because it means millions more people are connecting with the friends and things they care about most."

With 1.11 billion monthly active users globally, and 751 million monthly active users on mobile as of 31 March, 2013, Facebook's mobile user base has witnessed an increase of 54 per cent year-over-year.

Facebook For Every Phone — includes the social network’s most popular features, including News Feed, Messenger and Photos. It is optimized to use less data than other Java apps and mobile sites, which is a boon for users on limited data plans.

Aegon Religare Life Insurance Ties-up With Yes Bank

Aegon Religare Life Insurance (ARLI) has announced its tie-up with Yes Bank for premium collection. The objective of this initiative is to offer customers with another convenient mode to pay their Renewal Premium and New Business Premium across the extensive network of Yes Bank branches.

Yateesh Srivastava, Chief Operating Officer of ARLI, said: “Our idea of tying up with YES Bank is to provide our customers with an additional mode to pay their premium, without the hassle of locating and visiting an ARLI branch. 130 branches of Yes Bank, will accept ARLI premium at no extra cost to the customer. YES Bank accesses real-time data of a particular policy and simply collects the due premium. We’ve ensured that the customer details are secured and do not transfer from or to any of the YES Bank branches. Any new branches added by YES Bank will be made available to our customers to make the renewal premium payment. This initiative has been designed to reiterate our core strategy of being customer-centric in terms of service and overall experience,” he said.

The customers can walk-in to any of the 130 YES Bank branches during the local banking hours and pay their life insurance premium by cash or through a local cheque or a demand draft. The customer needs to simply fill in the deposit slip, mention his policy number, name and contact number on the reverse of the instrument, while issuing the same in favour of Aegon Religare Life Insurance. They then receive a premium payment acknowledgement receipt immediately, upon payment across the bank counter.

Idea Launches Campus Card For College Students

Idea Cellular, a telecom service provider has launched new Campus Card for college students — cost-effective Idea Campus Card with full talk time, data, SMS and discounted calling.

Idea Campus Card recharge is available for only Rs 79 and carries a talk time of Rs 30. Users also benefit from 400 MB of data along with 100 local or national SMSes. While the local Idea calls are 30 paisa a minute, other calls (local or STD) are available at just 40 paisa a minute, all for a period of 1 month.

With calling rates that are among the lowest in India, it is the perfect way for them to stay in touch with their friends and families all the year long.

Streparava Acquires JV Partner’s 51% Stake In Sansera
Streparava Holding SPA has announced that they have now taken over 100 per cent of the equity of Sansera + Streparava Engineering Private Limited (company).

Streparava earlier held 49 per cent equity in the company and the remaining 51 per cent was held by Sansera Engineering.

Streparava is an Italian manufacturer of auto components and makes rocker arms, chassis components, bearing cups, valve bridges and other powertrain components for the commercial vehicle industry. Streparava was founded in 1951 and has been operating in Italy for over 60 years. Apart from Italy, Streparava has presence in Brazil, Spain and China.

The company is located in Bangalore and will now be Streparava’s wholly owned Indian venture. Sansera Engineering’s commercial production started in 1987 and it supplies products to more than 20 customers in India and globally. Its reported consolidated revenue was about Rs 5.5 billion for the year ended 31 March.
