Swedish mobile telecom equipment maker Ericsson’s India sales in 2015 calendar year grew by 74 per cent over the previous year and YoY growth for the fourth quarter is 34 per cent. India has contributed 5 per cent to its overall sales in FY15 and continues to be top third country, for Ericsson.

Sales continued to be strong, mainly driven by investments in mobile broadband infrastructure to support the high growth in data usage. Besides, 4G deployments have also started. There are several factors behind the growth. As per a statement issued by Ericsson, its sales were driven by increased operator investments in mobile broadband infrastructure and professional services. Increased focus on network quality and cost optimization continued to drive strong sales growth for managed services. Further, support solutions sales showed significant growth, driven by OSS and BSS.

Hans Vestberg, President and CEO of Ericsson said: “Reported sales in the quarter increased by 8 per cent YoY. Sales, adjusted for comparable units and currency, decreased by -1 per cent.”

It is the emerging markets like India, Indonesia and Mexico that remained strong for the mobile telecom giant while markets including Russia, Brazil and parts of the Middle East remained weak, primarily due to macro-economic developments.
