Since it established operations in India more than 30 years ago, Cadence Design Systems has been known for its great work culture. From a team of 25 people in 1988, the company now has more than 2,000 employees, but the main building blocks of its culture have not changed much. Being a growing multinational with a diverse employee base, some workplace complexities have increased for Cadence.

Cadence is a leading provider of system design tools, software, IP, and services. A strong leadership team that lives the values it preaches and philosophy of transparency, honesty and consistency in messaging, has helped the company weather the ups and downs in business and keep its core culture and values intact. “Employees are at the heart of everything that we do and every decision we make. Among its people-centric initiatives is a strategy to ‘Celebrate the Good Times’ and welcome babies into the Cadence family. The company offers Cadence moms and dads adorable Cadence onesies (jumpsuits) with the Cadence logo on it. On the reverse, the playful acronym ‘EDA’ stands for ‘Expert Diaper Authority’ and  ‘F1’ stands for ‘Future Innovator’ in keeping with the company’s focus on innovation in a culture of High Performance. 

Cadence Design Systems employees make great efforts to give back to society. The philosophy has been brought into the lifeline of the organisation and evokes excellent participation by the employees, who participate wholeheartly through programmes like volunteer time off, volunteer connecting portal and matching gifts. 

As an employee divulged, “We all treat the company like our own and this attribution is valued strongly here. The team works together and supports one another to achieve our goals. In response, the employees in equal or more value, return the flexibility shown by the organisation.”
