It has been three years since Narendra Modi took the charge of PM office. During this period, within and outside the country, PM Narendra Modi has emerged as a brand unto himself. It is the Modi brand of development and trust that has gained ground over the last three years. No single politician or leader within the country can match his stature and reputation. Among the world’s top leaders Modi has become a force to reckon with. Giant leap in space programmes, registering record expected production of food grains and an amazing performance in sweet spot has successfully defined and established the Modi brand of politics.

The onset of transformation was well discernible with the swearing-in ceremony of the Prime Minister when he invited the heads of SAARC countries, underlining the intent of friendship in the region. Modi cocked a surprise when he invited Barack Obama, the then President of United States of America, as the chief guest on the occasion of Republic Day. What he did with him was ‘Maan Ki Baat’. After Obama, he invited Chinese President Xi Jinping, with whom Modi showcased rich Gujarati culture at a reception in Ahmedabad. Both the leaders talked at length while sitting on a traditional swing at Sabarmati River Front in Ahmedabad. The visual itself was so powerful and rare in the realm of international relations that caught attention of the entire world. Last but not the least, PM Narendra Modi took Australian Prime Minister to Akshardham temple through Delhi metro. There, both prime ministers sat like old friends on the stairs of the temple and talked at length. This shows personal chemistry, Mr. Modi has developed with different world leaders.

Even by visiting different foreign nations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has successfully given out a message to the world community. The message is to reinforce the claim that India has alone the potential to become world’s biggest market with 125 crore population out of which 65 percent is youth. Modi even underlined the fact that India has the panacea for all the perils related to economic slowdown the world over.

It was due to the charisma of Modi brand of politics that those countries who were quick to impose sanctions on India after Pokharan Test, were, in fact, standing in full support when ‘commandos of Indian army successfully launched a surgical strike on terrorist locations inside the territory of Pakistan.

As against the all growing China-Pakistan friendship, PM Narendra Modi has initiated the process to regroup with America, Israel and European countries, not ignoring the importance of friendship with some of the South Asian countries. This reflects the maturity with which Modi has been handling international relations with his assertive and powerful leadership. In a unique gesture, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has given a gift of South Asian Satellite to its neighbouring countries, taking them along the path of technological progress, a fact appreciated by all.

Over the last three years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has successfully dismissed the notion that corruption cannot be uprooted from the system. After demonetization, he claimed in public rallies that he would bring back every single penny looted from the poor into the government exchequer and make use of it for the poor. It was not a mere election rhetoric. It was the trust and confidence that he has earned during the last three years for his party and his government. And after demonetization, election after election this confidence and trust are being translated into votes for him and his party.

It is not that corruption has completely vanished from the system. But the belief that Modi government is against this menace and it is doing everything at the top level to eradicate it, has gone down well in the minds of the people of this country. Besides demonetization, during the last three years, there has not been a single blot of corruption on the Modi government. And this is no mean an achievement, compared to the culture of corruption that had set in at the time when UPA- II government was in power. Remember the time when people were fed up with everyday expose on corruption right at the top level. Modi government filled the exchequer by auctioning coal mines and spectrum, thousands of crores came into the kitty. It has also provided a reason to believe in the Modi brand of governance. After demonetization, next onslaught was on benami property, sending across a clear message that war on corruption will not stop. Government’s next move on election funding was also widely appreciated.

Another sound reason for the public to believe in the good intent of Modi government is DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). Now there is no role of an intermediary, the benefit directly going into the accounts of the beneficiaries. It has alone helped the country to save around fifty thousands of crores besides taking people out from the morass of corruption. Association of 28 crore people with Jan Dhan Account and more than 2 crore people with BHIM app is by no mean a small achievement. It has certainly increased the trust of the common people in Modi brand of development.

In India, nearly 60-65 percent of the population is engaged in farming. The Prime Minister has tried to win over their trust by providing them Crop Insurance Plan. It has been due to initiation of the Prime Minister that Neem coated urea has been made available to the farmers for use thereby ending fertiliser threat. Prime Minister even came to the rescue of sugarcane farmers by paying their dues and connecting them with country’s Mandis through E – NAM. By providing 6.5 crore farmers with the soil health card, Modi government has tried to create awareness among the farmers providing them huge relief. During the year 2016 -17 the record expected production of the foodgrain is a clear statement of the ‘Brand Modi’.

To provide relief and help to the poor women of the country Modi government has distributed over two crores of free gas connections under Ujjwala Yojana. The government further aims to provide five crore gas connections to poor women. Worrying about the future of the female child the government has started Sukanya Yojana. Under this scheme, till now, more than 11 thousand crore rupees have been deposited by opening up more than one crore accounts, which is not a mean achievement to talk about. Besides this, the government has started “Beti padhao, Beti Bachao” campaign as well. This campaign has resulted in improving the sex ratio in many parts of the country. Internationally, India stands at 87th position in sex ration, a leap of 21 points.

Under the project “Nayi Roshni” two lakh minority women have been benefited. Even paid leave of 26 weeks for working women who are expecting, is a big surprise for them. Not only this, Prime Minister has appealed to the community to put an end to triple talaq and Halala. This appeal, nonetheless, has definitely won the heart of Muslim women.

The number of workers in the unorganised sector has increased steadily. To provide them succour Modi government has increased their minimum wages by 42 percent. To the workers in the organised sector, the government has broken new grounds. It has made withdrawing EPF money easier by providing UNI number to each worker.

For the corporate sector, labour laws have been amended on the lines of ease of doing business. Unnecessary and useless paperwork has been done away with. Trade facilities have been improvised. The Even digital transaction is providing meaningful help to the businessmen.

The Prime Minister has certain plan for the youth of this country as well. The government has urged youth to dream big. He has appealed them to become world leaders. Under the MUDRA Yojana, the government has made available easy loans to more than 7.45 crore small businessmen of which 3.17 lakh crores of money has been distributed till now. The government has made available fund of 10 thousand crores for Start Up India projects. And by every mean the young entrepreneurs are utilising this fund for their dreams to achieve. Consequently, under the Kaushal Vikas Yojana, youth are being made skilful so that they can earn their own living.

The Modi government has mitigated the problems of the soldiers by giving them OROP, a long-standing demand of 40 years. The Prime Minister outlined umpteen number of times under what circumstances his government has accepted this demand. At the same time, he never forgot to mention the fact why previous governments could not deal with this problem.

No doubt the Modi government has taken several decisions that will continue to lay its impact on the future. With very little premium, now people can access to accidental and pension insurance. The government has brought about 13 crore of people under the social insurance scheme.

Not only this but measures like decreasing the price of 800 medicines, reducing the cost of stents for heart patients, establishing AIIMS across the country, increasing the number of medical colleges has hugely benefited the common populace of the country.

Modi government has even taken huge steps forward to provide road, electricity and housing to every citizen of this country. It is no mean achievement that within a time span of only three years, one lakh twenty thousand kilometres of rural road have been constructed. This is being done with a speed of 133 kilometres per day.

Out of 18,456 villages where electricity has not reached since last 70 years, the government has been able to electrify 12 thousand villages so far. Besides, the government has carefully saved thousands of crores rupee by encouraging people to use LED bulbs.

By the year 2022, every citizen will have a house. This is the ambitious dream of Modi government. For this, the government has made possible for the people to avail home at a rate as low as three to four percent. The government wants even an ordinary person to travel by aeroplane. For this, a new and visionary scheme called UDAN has been launched. The government thinks that these steps will benefit the common people of this country.

If these government measures are few to count, ending VIP culture, stopping the use of red beacon vehicles, self-attesting rights to common people, ending interview for third and fourth-grade jobs - are some of the steps of the Modi government that have developed direct connect with the masses.

The government is going to usher soon into GST regime amidst slogans like one nation and one tax. The government hopes that this will put an end to multiple tax regime in the country and will make a positive environment for investment. To make the atmosphere positive Modi government has put social mascot to some of the schemes. To name some of the important schemes are like Swachhata Abhiyan, stopping wastage of food and Beti padhao, Beti Bachao. Gone are the days when Padma awards were given on recommendations. Modi government has started a new culture of awarding eminent citizens. People’s participation in the selection of awardees has given a different dimension to Padma Awards.

This government has been very quick and decisive at the time when calamity strikes. Government’s quick response has been widely appreciated. Whether floods in Kashmir or Tamilnadu or drought in Maharashtra, the government took no time to provide succour to the masses. In order to deal with any disaster, 61,220 crore of the fund has been provided to SDRF.

In order to utilise the vast resources of the coastal line, the government has initiated an ambitious plan called SAGARMALA. The government proposes to invest eight lakh crores for the same with 415 projects. 106 new waterways have been further recognised as National Water Ways. This will not only enable the domestic businessmen but it will start a new era of trade with foreign countries.

The government is proposing to build 100 Smart cities, starting bullet train in the country. These efforts will change the economic landscape of this country. With Bharat Net, the government has connected 77,831 Gram Panchayats in the country. Within three years 1.7 lakh kilometre cable wires have been laid. This will enable the country to enter in the Internet world. It has all the potential to change the future scenario of the country.

In the area of space research, India’s reputation has all been growing. The successful launching of IRNSS – 1G, Isro’s launching of PSLV-C37 or even launching of SAS are some of the feathers in India’s cap. The NAVIC has made the country capable of keeping watch on every nook and corner of the country’s boundary.

To conclude, the Brand Modi has exceptionally done well while it proved to be successful in every yardstick of Sweet Spot. It includes the higher level of FDI and GDP rate, strict control over fiscal deficit and current account losses and lower level of inflation. These are no minor achievements for a government which is in power for only three years so far. That’s why Modi Brand is now not a common brand.
