Don't Sleep Hungry: These Volunteers Takes Your Surplus Food To The Less Fortunate

Robinhood Army (RHA), a volunteer based organization that works to get surplus food from restaurants to the less fortunate sections of society was founded on August 26, 2014 with an intent to reduce food wastage and envision a world where people don’t sleep hungry. The Army of Robins, gamut in 48 cities across India and 11 other countries, has served 3.4 Million people without raising any money. RHA works at the city level which is bifurcated into further chapters.

This Independence Day, RHA undertook an unprecedented project #Mission1Million to serve 1 Million people across India and Pakistan. In this tryst RHA served 1.32 Million people across India and Pakistan.

RHA Gurugram Chapter alone served more than 30,000 people across Gurugram with around 50 volunteers and in collaboration with major partners namely Xiaomi, Barista and Food Panda. “We divided the city into various hyperlocal regions like MG Road, Golf Course Road, Old Gurgaon, DLF City Phase 5 and South City 1 to besiege the entire city that enabled us to serve maximum people seamlessly in various slums, orphanages and old age homes” said Sachit Sehra, a Supply Chain Professional who heads RHA Gurugram chapter.

An effort was made by the Gurugram Robins to serve a good feast for the kids in the school run for underprivileged children in DLF Phase 3. “We served 650 meals provided by Food Panda and 2300 cookies specially baked by Barista in the school after the Independence Day Morning Assembly and other clusters in the adjoining area” said Nitin Raj, Pursuits Specialist and an active volunteer.

RHA Gurugram in conjunction with the Food Drive also set in motion a special drive to create awareness amongst the underprivileged families with the First Aid Techniques to enable people lead a healthy life. “Firstly, a doctor sensitized the families with the importance & application of the first aid kits and how to protect & remediate themselves from Dengue and Chicken Guniya. Finally, we distributed the First Aid Kits to 100 families” said Kanika Budhiraja, a Supply Chain Professional and an active volunteer.

Robinhood Army (RHA) envisions a better future for everyone by creating awareness about the world hunger crisis and by transcending borders & boundaries with a common religion “Humanity”.
