Developing A Managerial Perspective

The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM-K) has introduced a 6 days long compulsory course for its flagship PGP participants called 'Managerial Perspective'.

The programme will offer a series of simulation cases, movies and lectures which will require an interdisciplinary analysis followed by managerial decisions. Simulation cases will enable students to develop the ability to put diverse pieces of qualitative and quantitative information together, invoke the relevant knowledge and synthesize multiple perspectives.

"IIM-K will reinvent classroom democracy by making learning, rather than the learned, the real leader", said the IIM Kozhikode Director Debashis Chatterjee during the launch of the course. "The course challenges the tyranny of territorial thinking and development based knowledge dissemination."

The course seeks to create the need to gain expertise in dealing with and contributing to social change. To sensitise the students to evolving social issues, the course will rely on selected films, and lectures. These films have been selected to focus on certain key social issues. By design, the course is participative through which students analyse and decide in teams and then share their experiences and insights with the rest of the class at the time of debriefing.
