Aamir Khan-starrer Dangal, which released in India in December last year, has turned out to be a massive hit in China within 10 days of its release.

Dangal’s China collection stands at a whopping $60 million in its first two weeks. With around Rs 400 crores, Dangal has surpassed its lifetime Indian box-office collections. Thanks to the amazing response for Dangal at the Chinese box-office, the movie has now crossed the Rs 1,000-crore mark worldwide. Dangal now becomes the second Indian movie after Baahubali to gross Rs 1,000 crore worldwide.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Dangal stars Sakshi Tanwar, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra alongside Khan. The movie is produced by Walt Disney, UTV Motion Pictures and Aamir Khan Productions.

Dangal started on a positive note since Day 1 and the first week business was roughly Rs 174 crore. This in itself is the highest single foreign territory collection for any Bollywood film. The movie resumed its second weekend with $ 6.21 million on Friday. By Saturday, Dangal doubled its business and collected $13.86 million (Rs 87 crore). It is the highest single-day collection for any Indian movie in China. Sunday was super strong as well as the movie added another $12.53 million. The movie added another Rs 150 crore in two days, taking the second weekend collection to Rs 208 crore.

Aamir Khan enjoys a good fan base in China, but the numbers are beyond imagination. The word-of-mouth publicity has been super strong. The overall business of Dangal in China is expected to be much more than its Indian business.

Released on 23 December 2016, Dangal collected Rs 740 crore in the Indian and overseas market. With its release in China, Dangal sailed into the Rs 1,000 crore club. Dangal’s worldwide collection now stands at close to Rs 1,100 crore.

China has set new standards for Bollywood films.
