We are not disconnected from the crippling problems that our environment undergoes every day. With global warming, dying oceans, endangered species and water shortage becoming a common phenomenon, the environment around us needs our help. With massive increase in the incursion of these disasters, there is an urgent need to become increasingly aware, attentive and conscious of the environmental problems our planet is facing and take corrective measures to combat them.

Evidence suggests that people are consuming far more natural resources than what the planet can sustainably offer. The wellbeing of humanity and environment ultimately depends on the judicious use of resources. Hence, one needs to work out on a promising strategy, within planetary boundaries, to ensure a brighter and safe tomorrow. While there is too much that the business organizations, communities and individuals wish to do, they have little knowledge of where to begin from. It is not always necessary that one has to spend large amounts of donations towards this cause. Being environmentally friendly, modifying our lifestyle, personal habits and educating people around us about the importance of conserving nature are some of the smaller yet impactful ways to contribute to save the environment.

On this world environment day, let's celebrate the nature around us and try to make a positive difference to the environment with below mentioned simple, easy-to-do, realistic measures

1.    Switch to eco-friendly sustainable products, also called green products that can go a long way in reducing the contamination caused to our natural resources
2.    Look inside your homes and search for the plastic bags and bottles that you collect and reuse over and over again. Plastic bottles take hundreds of years to disintegrate. They can not only be hazardous for your health but will have far reaching impact on the environment
3.    Don't keep the tap running while brushing your teeth. This can save you as much as 11 liters every time!
4.    Check for tap leakages. It can save over 20 liters of water in a year
5.    Don't keep the shower running while taking bath
6.    Conserve energy! Turn off the lights and appliances when not in use
7.    Choose the right water purification method for your home. People assume that there is one technology that can solve all water problems. The fact is that there are 17 different kinds of water conditions across India and there is not one size-fits-all solution that can be adopted to purify water. It is important to understand the water quality and accordingly decide on the purifier
8.    Care for the Air which is an essential part of our living. While most of us know that air pollution is one of the gravest problems that our environment faces today, not much has been done towards reducing it. When one is indoors, refrain from using air conditioners and air fresheners assuming it is purifying the air. Instead try installing a good quality air purifier powered with Swiss HEPATM filter which removes up to 99.97% of micro particles, such as fine dust, pollen and mold spores and therefore the environment
9.    Instead of using vehicles within close proximities, walk the distance
10.    Let e-bills be the new trend in your homes. Instead of paper bills and statements every month, switch to e-statements and e-bills. These may be small effort on your part but a significant one indeed
11.    Reduce usage of chemicals and pesticides in everyday functioning
12.    Most importantly, plant a tree with friends or family on this World Environment Day! A little amount of greenery will pave path for a brighter, safer and greener tomorrow
