Chef Floyd Carloz died of Covid-19 in the US

Chef Cardoz posted on Instagram on March 18 that said he had himself admitted in a hospital in New York because he was feeling feverish.

Noted Chef Floyd Cardoz who was tested positive with Covid-19 passed away in a hospital in New York on Wednesday.

                                                                                                                                                                                               Chef Cardoz, 59, was the co-owner of two Mumbai based popular restaurants – the Bombay Canteen and O Pedro. He was in Mumbai until March 8 to celebrate the fifth-anniversary celebration of the Bombay canteen. He had recently launched his third venture, the Bombay Sweet Shop.

                                                                                                                                                                                               Chef Cardoz posted on Instagram on March 18 that said he had himself admitted in a hospital in New York because he was feeling feverish. Later in a statement, The Hunger Inc, the company that runs the restaurants said, “As a precautionary measure we have informed the Health Department in Mumbai about the same,” it said. “We are also reaching out personally to people who have interacted with him during his visit to India, so they can take necessary medical advice should they indicate any symptoms [fever, cough, shortness of breath] and or [put themselves in] self-quarantine.”   


                                                                                                                                                                                                 The Mumbai-Goan Chef had trained to become a biochemist, but later he discovered a passion for cooking. He went to culinary school in Switzerland and later moved to New York City.
