Sunil Taldar, the DTH business head of Airtel, is set to take on more as Ajai Puri retires from the telecom major at the end of this year. In the wake of this development, Airtel has elevated Taldar to the post of Director - Market Operations.

Ajai Puri is credited with significantly transforming Airtel’s market capabilities and is considered monumental in helping the telco increase its revenue significantly. He will step down from his post in December after a 17-year stint in the telco. He will guide Taldar during December 2021 as a part of the transfer of power.

Airtel has been reorganising its corporate structure in order to focus on digital operations. The telecom business of the company will be moved to a new entity called Airtel Ltd. The change in the structure is being done in order to monetise the digital operations in the future and to remove the regulatory bottlenecks.

Recently Bharti Airtel also announced a rights issue of up to Rs 21,000 to improve its 4G network in the country. The money will also be used to prepare for the 5G airwaves auction coming soon.

Apart from these developments, Manu Sood has been appointed as the CEO of the DTH Business and Vir Inder Nath has been promoted to the post of CEO of Home Broadband Operations.
