In the wake of COVID-19 Pandemic, Stuart Pringle Managing Director of SilverStone Racetrack in Britain has officially announced the cancellation of the 2020 F1 GrandPrix which was supposed to be held on the weekend of 17th to 19th of July.

Silverstone Circuit is a motor racing circuit in England located next to the Northamptonshire villages of Silverstone and Whittlebury. Silverstone hosted the inaugural Formula 1 World Championship round on May 13 1950.

“Customers who have purchased a ticket for 2020 Grand Prix will be given an option to transfer their bookings to 2021 or take a full refund, all customers will be contacted in the next two weeks,” Said Stuart

Silverstone is at the centre of a motorsport hub, with their own driving experiences centre, a Porsche Centre and Handling Track, an Aston Martin Test and Development Centre based at the Stowe Circuit, a conference and exhibition facility in the Wing, and also Heritage Experience Centre and soon to be opened the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel.

In a gesture of respect to the health workers and people fighting the pandemic, Stuart said “We intend to give away thousands of tickets for the 2021 event to NHS and other key workers, who have literally been putting their lives on the line for us, during these challenging times”

At the 2018 British Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton compared a flat-out lap around Silverstone to flying a fighter jet, which should tell you all you need to know about the Northamptonshire circuit. Despite numerous layout changes over the years, Silverstone has always maintained its essential character as one of the fastest tracks on the F1 calendar, while historic corners like Maggotts, Becketts and Abbey provide some of the biggest challenges for racing drivers anywhere in the world.
