COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage Crosses 100 Cr Mark, PM Thanks Healthcare Workers

The Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also congratulated the country on achieving this landmark.

Amid the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic and possible speculations of the third wave, India’s cumulative COVID-19 vaccination coverage has gone beyond 100 crore. 

As India, touched the historic milestone, after witnessing the deadly second wave of the ongoing pandemic, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed gratitude to doctors, nurses, and all those who worked amid all the odds. 

PM Modi took to his official Twitter handle and wrote, "India scripts history. We are witnessing the triumph of Indian science, enterprise, and the collective spirit of 130 crore Indians. Congrats India on crossing 100 crore vaccinations. Gratitude to our doctors, nurses, and all those who worked to achieve this feat."

The Health Ministry informed that a total of 17,561 patients recovered in the last 24 hours which has increased the total tally of recovered patients to 3,34,95,808.

The Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also congratulated the country on achieving this landmark.

The recovery rate of the country stands at 98.15 per cent, which is currently at its highest peak since March 2020.

Meanwhile, India reported a total of 18,454 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. Talking about the active caseload, it remains below the 2 lakh mark and is presently at 1,78,831. Active cases presently constitute 0.52 per cent of the country's total positive cases, which is the lowest since March 2020.

"The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. The last 24 hours saw a total of 12,47,506 tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 59.57 Cr (59,57,42,218) cumulative tests," said the Health Ministry. 

The weekly positivity rate stands at 1.34 per cent, which is less than 3 per cent for the last 118 days now. The daily positivity rate is at 1.48 per cent, which is again below 3 per cent for the last 52 days and below 5 per cent for 135 consecutive days now.
