The long-awaited 12th class CBSE Boards results were finally out today, showing 99 per cent of students passed the Boards through internal assessment.

As Board exams were cancelled this year, CBSE provided various gateways for students to check their results. Without sitting for an exam, students’ assessment criteria were prepared in an alternative way. With no enrolment number, CBSE also came out with a roll number finder.

CBSE class 12 results would be hosted on multiple platforms so that students can check their results at UMANG, DigiLocker, SMS Organiser and DigiResults.

Assessment Criteria:

  • 40 per cent contribution was assigned to Class 12 internal marks - Unit Test/ Mid Term / Pre-Board exam
  • 30 per cent weightage was given to marks secured in the theory component from Class 11.
  • 30 per cent marks were calculated from the Class 10 theory component of the best three performing subjects out of five.

    Results

Kendriya Vidyalaya reported a 100 pass percentage. 99.37 per cent of students passed their Boards this year, a huge increase from the previous year of 88.78 per cent. Several states reporting above 95 per cent pass percentage.

    Reactions

PM Narendra Modi, CBSE and Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan congratulated all students on passing this year after the tremendous difficulty they faced due to the pandemic. They tweeted the following:

PM Modi: "Congratulations to my young friends who have successfully passed their Class XII CBSE examinations. Best wishes for a bright, happy and healthy future."

Education Minister, Pradhan: "Compliment teachers & parents for their hard work. My best wishes to all the students for their bright future."

Students, however, had more polar opinions. Some were very pleased with the result.

Drishti Shishodia, Class XII (Batch 2020-2021), Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Vasundhara, Ghaziabad was happy to share, "I'm really pleased with the outcomes. I feel that the school and CBSE have done justice. Though some of the students were sceptical about the evaluation criteria, I feel Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining and you just have to find your silver lining."

Pal Aggarwal, XII (Batch 2020-21), another student of Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Vasundhara, Ghaziabad shared similar sentiments as their classmate, "The evaluation process by CBSE did match up to our expectations and the efforts of the school to balance our academic performances over the past three years is praiseworthy."

Other students were more critical on the matter, most feeling grateful but undeserving, several posted memes of the results on tweeter:

Many universities and higher education institutes have completely revised their admission process due to the change in the assessment. Most have their own entrance exams and other procedures. It remains to be seen the weightage the CBSE Board results ultimately play in the future of students of Class 12 CBSE Batch 2021.
