Bureaucratic rejig: Higher Education, I&B, Skill Development get new Secretaries

Arun Goel is the new secretary, Department of Heavy Industry, Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises. He replaces Asha Ram Sihag wh retires on December 31.

The JNU stir has claimed its first casualty when the Higher Education Secretary R Subrahmanyam was shunted out of the MHRD and shifted to social justice ministry as Secretary. Subrahmanyam was Secretary, Higher Education, and was involved in talks with the JNU students. Subrahmanyam, incidentally, is a JNU alumnus.

Subrahmanyam has been replaced by Amit Khare.

Both the officers belong to the 1985 batch.

Arun Goel is the new secretary, Department of Heavy Industry, Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises. He replaces Asha Ram Sihag wh retires on December 31.

Significantly, Ravi Mittal, 1986 batch Bihar cadre officer is the new I&B Secretary. He replaces Amit Khare who has been shifted to MHRD.

T V Somanathan, 1987 batch Tamil Nadu cadre officer is the new secretary, department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance.

Rajesh Bhushan is the new Rural Development Secretary. He replaces Amarjit Sinha who retires on December 31.

Sunil Kumar is the new secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj.

Praveen Kumar replaces K P Krishnan as Secretary in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
