Lipstick Under My Burkha and Munna Michael took off a decent start at the box-office on Friday (21st July). Both the films are targeting different sets of audience and have been released with a huge screen difference. The third release, Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk saw very good occupancy at the box-office on Day 1.

Produced by Prakash Jha and directed by Alankrita Srivastava, Lipstick Under My Burkha started with low occupancy in the morning shows. The film picked up very strongly in the evening shows with major contribution from the metros. The film raked in Rs 1.22 crore on day 1. Looking at the low screen count, the film witnessed good occupancy.

The unconventional and bold approach of Lipstick Under My Burkha is not everyone’s cup of tea. The film is an audacious approach in filmmaking and has been well applauded by the critics. The movie is riding on some great reviews and strong word of mouth. Targeting a very limited audience, Rs 1.22 crore in the opening day seem good.

The biz of Lipstick Under My Burkha will accelerate through the weekend and the film is expected to take a good leap in collections on Saturday (22nd July) and Sunday (23rd July).

Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated war drama Dunkirk scored well on the first day. The film brought in Rs 3.80 crore on Friday. The movie has gathered some extraordinary reviews from national and international critics. Being labelled as Nolan’s finest work till date, the movie has debuted with great numbers in the international circuit.

Dunkirk collected close to Rs 1.5 crore from Thursday's paid previews. Nolan, again, has proved his impeccable narration and a strong grip on the characters with Dunkirk. Looking at the word of mouth, Dunkirk is expected to grow more than two folds over the weekend and maintain good numbers in the weekdays.

The other Bollywood release, Munna Michael raked in Rs 6.65 crore on Friday. The film opened to very low occupancy considering the wide release in 3,000 screens. Munna Michael has been dismissed by the critics with some poor ratings, while the audience's word of mouth is also weak. The film is facing stiff competition from Dunkirk and Lipstick Under My Burkha in the plexes, while the single screens are playing in favour of the movie.

Munna Michael is Tiger Shroff’s lowest opener at the box-office. The film has debuted below Heropanti and Baaghi at the box-office. Going by the reviews of Munna Michael, the film is expected to dip further in the coming days.
