Bollywood Scores High In May

The month of May has turned out to be a successful one for the film industry. With the Friday release Tanu Weds Manu keeping the bells ringing at the box office, other release of the month Piku and Gabbar is Back has already brought much needed profit to the Bollywoood.
 
The R Madhavan-Kangana Ranaut starrer  Tanu Weds Manu Returns  has got a flying start at the box office, collecting a massive Rs 38.10 crore in its opening weekend and making it the second highest opening weekend collector of 2015 so far.
 
Tanu Weds Manu Returns comfortably surpassed the opening weekend collections of Roy (Rs 28 crore), Baby (Rs 35.05 crore),  Piku (Rs 25.22 crore),  Badlapur (Rs 24 crore), Tevar (Rs 22.05 crore) and is expected to become one of the biggest money spinner at the ticket counters of 2015.

Another movie which is raking the moolah at the box office is Amitabh-Deepika-Irrfan starrer Piku. Released in theatres on 8 May, Piku opened to a superb response and collected ₹41.42 crore at the Indian box office in the first week. Continuing its success at the box office, it has surpassed ₹70- crore mark in the domestic market.
 
The month also saw the release of Akshay Kumar starrer Gabbar is Back which was received a thumbs-up from the box office. Gabbar collected Rs 40 crore in the first weekend of its release, making it the biggest weekend opener. Released on May 1, the movie till now has done a business of Rs 85 crore.
 
With three other biggies, Dil Dhadakne Do,Hamari Adhuri Kahani, ABCD - Any Body Can Dance – 2 set to release in June, film industry hopes for the good run to continue.
