Bharti Realty Limited strives to be the most admired real estate company in the country. It is committed to incessant innovation in design, technology, environmental sustainability and facility management for overall customer gratification at choice locations around India. The group is part of Bharti Enterprises, a frontrunner among business conglomerates in India.
Bharti Realty is a relatively young, vibrant and dynamic realty group with interests in retail, office and residential real estate. It earns itself a laurel as a great place to work in, both as a deserving business group and as an admired employer. Company CEO and managing director, S.K. Sayal, elaborates on what he thinks sets Bharti Realty apart in the industry. “At Bharti Realty, we take pride in fostering an intellectually stimulating and motivating workplace to attract, develop and retain the best of talent,” says Sayal.
“We are a young and dynamic organisation built on the strong values of trust, integrity and respect for all. We value the passion and zeal in people to go the extra mile. In turn, we promise them a variety of challenging opportunities and a fulfilling career with a chance to give back to the community in a socially responsible manner,” he tells us.
The Work Culture
Sayal says the company’s work culture is akin to that of a family. “Being a close-knit unit, we celebrate every small or big occasion as a family. We strongly believe that an atmosphere of bonhomie fosters friendships, which in turn drive organisational productivity. Our objective is to provide an exciting and dynamic workplace where collaboration, teamwork and play are encouraged.”
Collaboration and teamwork is what led to the evolution of the company. Bharti Realty began as a venture to cater for the real estate requirements of group companies. “However over the years, we realised the potential that exists in our people and we started developing rent-yielding assets meant for housing external corporates,” says Sayal. “As on date, we have 14 existing projects, five million square feet of existing portfolio and nine million square feet under construction,” he says.
The Bharti Realty CEO talks of “organic changes” over the last few years in the “fast-growing environment” the company functions in. The change has impacted Bharti Realty’s people practices, which have evolved and matured to be able to attract and retain the right talent pool. “At Bharti Realty, it’s our endeavour to foster an inclusive work culture where uniqueness of beliefs, backgrounds, talents, capabilities are respected and welcomed. Creating an exceptional employee experience where people aspire to do more, is what our constant endeavour is!” emphasises Sayal.
BW Businessworld did not wish to be swayed by the testimonial of the management alone, so we sought out employees on the shop floor. A head of operations in a group project told us, “The Bharti Group’s focus on employee engagement makes it a great place to work in. Every individual’s performance is evaluated periodically and a lot of investment is done by the Human Resource department on its implementation.” Employees vouch for the fact that Bharti Realty has “an open work culture” and that its policies and processes are transparent.
Employees says the Bharti Group’s focus on staff engagement makes it a great place to work in, taking the group notches above its peers in the industry in terms of employee satisfaction. “As an individual, I have been provided with immense opportunities and autonomy to grow and I feel a sense of pride to be associated with the company,” an employee tells us. We find no reason to doubt him.
