Defying all the predictions, Bahubali 2 took an even bigger opening than expected. The collections are on-par or better than the highest single day collection of the biggest of Hindi films like Sultan and Dangal. Bahubali 2 achieved the feat on a non-holiday. Bahubali's worldwide gross has exceeded Rs.200 crore on the first day, which is more than the lifetime collections of highest grossing Hindi film of 2017.
The Prabhas starrer Bahubali 2 collected Rs.42 crore on Day 1. This is more than the combined collection of two of Bollywood's biggest release this year; Raaes- 20.2 crore and Kaabil 10.4 crore. The PAN India collection of Bahubali is 130 crores which involve the Hindi, Telugu and Tamil versions of the movie.
Bahubali 2 is a game changer, it redefines everything you thought you knew about the power and standards of the Indian cinema. Directed by Rajamouli, Bahubali 2 stars Prabhas, Tamannah and Anushka Shetty in the lead. The movie is produced by ARKA media works.
The main Telugu version of the movie has crossed Rs.55 crore and set an all-time record in each territory. The Tamil version which released on approximately 700 screens, collected Rs.18 crore. The release in Tamil Nadu was affected by release issues between the producers and the distributors of the film. In Karnataka and Kerala, Bahubali 2 is the widest release of all time and the collections in the state do full justice to the wide release. The movie collected Rs.10 crore in the Karnataka region and Rs.4 crore in Kerala.
The collections in the North have destroyed the previous records set by all Hindi films, including all the Eid, Diwali, and Christmas release, featuring the Khans of Bollywood.
Back in 2015 when the first instalment of Bahubali was released in Hindi, the movie made Rs. 45 crore through the weekend, Bahubali 2, on the other hand, made a whooping Rs.42 crore on day 1 from the Hindi version. Looking at the trend, Bahubali 2 will have a weekend collection of Rs.110 crore and the fact that Monday, a national Holiday, the movie will add another 40-45 crores in its kitty, taking the extended four-day weekend collection to Rs.150-160 crore for the Hindi version.
The movie has shown some great strength in the International market breaking all records in all circuits. The U.S. circuit was so strong that Bahubali 2 topped the Thursday night preview with $2.5 million. This was better than other Hollywood releases in the U.S. The movie is expected to make Rs.70 crore in the U.S. through the weekend, which is the highest collections for an Indian film in the US
Saturday is better than Friday at various circuits across India, Hindi version is very strong and the advance bookings are earth shattering till Monday. Though the movie has received average reviews from the critics, word of mouth is super strong.
