Formerly known as The Grand with 7 hotel properties, the leading Bharat Hotels has grown from a reasonable small size group to a lavish group of chains with 14 five star luxury properties named as The Lalit. Chairperson and Managing Director of Bharat Hotels, Dr. Jyotsna Suri is a driving force wherein after the demise of her husband Lalit Suri, she took over the brand in 2006 as the CMD. Since then there is no looking back. In 2008, she changed the name of the group to The Lalit after her husband’s name. She works with persistence while driving the brand as a leading name in the industry. She holds majors in English from Delhi University along with an honorary degree from the University of Warwick, UK.

Suri joined the group as a Joint Managing Director in 1989 and since then the practical and sharp-minded hotelier has led the group blazingly. In 2014, she was elected as the President of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). She also heads the Committee of Tourism at FICCI.

She always wanted to do something substantial for the society and with an entrepreneurial mindset, she found bringing a fresh new look to the brand as the most challenging task. However, as a titan she brought out a new business strategy while rebuilding the brand value of the hotels in the market. Various media organizations tag her as the ‘Queen of the Hospitality Industry’ or a ‘Hotel Heiress’ due to her consistent dedication and fabulous growth of the luxury properties and its fantastic services.

In all these years, she has believed that nothing can replace hardwork. “If anybody is consistent and meticulous in their efforts success will be with that person irrespective to the industry the person belongs”, Suri says. She has built her credibility not only internally but externally as well which outshines her personality throughout the tourism industry. Right from Srinagar in North to Kerala in South, the group has made its presence across the country. Recently, they opened an international branch at London.
