Apple, Nasdaq and UIDAI To Be First-Time Recruiters At IIT-Madras

Apple, Nasdaq and Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) will be first time participants at IIT- Madras for this year's final placements, which will start from December 1.
Around 15 percent of the registered companies are first-time companies. Some of the companies coming first time for the placement drive are UBS AG, Alvarez and Marsal India Pvt Ltd, Country Garden, Halma India Pvt Ltd, Rubrik and Sekisui Chemical.
IIT Madras is witnessing a huge jump in the number of companies visiting the campus for the placement season. Overall, 270 companies have registered for more than 400 job profiles, compared to 250 companies last year (2016-17) for the same number of job profiles.
The first phase of campus placement will be held between 1st December to 10th December. About 43 percent of the recruiters are from core engineering / R & D sector, 25 percent from finance / analytics / consulting sectors, and 32 percent from the IT sector. The Institute will host more than 50 start-ups this year.
Companies such as Microsoft, Samsung R and D, Goldman Sachs, Eaton, Schlumberger, Mahindra, Intel, Bajaj, EXL, Citi, Larsen and Toubro who have been traditional recruiters will continue coming to IIT-Madras this year as well. Nearly around 19 companies have advertised international profiles, most of which are for positions in Asian countries such as Japan, Singapore and Taiwan, along with the US.
The institute has already witnessed a 56 percent increase in the PPOs (pre-placement offers), majorly through internships. IIT Madras received as many as 114 PPOs against 73, which were received last year.
