Altec Lansing Re-enters Indian Market With Rugged Speakers

Altec Lansing is slowly trying to re-establish itself by selling its new range in SAARC countries and then move on to the middle-east. In India, the company has an exclusive tie up with Trade Bazaar Hometech Ventures LLP

Altec Lansing, the audio electronics company has made a comeback to the Indian market with the introduction its new range of speakers which the company claims is the world’s most sturdy “Everything Proof” range of speakers. By that the company means that the speakers are all-weather proof and also claims that it can withstand dust, sand, shock, snow and water. They can be dunked into a pool full of water and still be used without any issues as they tend to float on water. The speakers are of course Bluetooth enabled and can be connected to your smartphone, tablet, laptop and also offers a 3.5mm audio jack for wired devices.

The brand has always had a presence in India when it was owned by Plantronics but it went missing for a good 4-5 years. Back then it offered an impressive range of speakers in its range but it never had or maintained a steady business ever since the company was formed. It is currently owned by the Infinity Group in the US which specializes in turning around struggling or bankrupt consumer brands.

Speaking to Shonit Dalmia from Trade Bazaar Hometech Ventures LLP, he says “The company is back in action and is currently offering an all-in-one solution of wireless speakers which look good, offer great sound and are also very sturdy, which no other brand offers in India. I believe it is the right time to enter the market as this particular product range is growing and our products are based on what the consumer wants.”

The new range consists of:

Mini H2O
This is a tiny speaker with offers a range of 33-feet and as mentioned before it is waterproof, sandproof, snowproof, dustproof, shockproof and it can floast on water. It has an inbuilt mic for speakerphone capability, aux in and up to 6 hours of battery life. It can produce a nice and loud volume output but tends to distort on high levels. The speaker is priced at Rs. 3,600/-

Mini Lifejacket 2
This is a slightly larger speaker with rubber lining all around to protect it from shocks and water. With up to 10 hrs of battery life this too is waterproof, sandproof, snowproof, dustproof, shockproof and float on water. It also features voice confirmation, inbuilt mic for speakerphone capability and aux in. Price: Rs. 8,000/-

Lifejacket 2
This is the largest of the lot and also offers a longer battery backup of up to 16 hours. Apart from being all-weather proof it can be used as a power bank to remotely charge other devices and also has speakerphone with caller id, voice confirmation, aux in jack, accepts voice commands and NFC compatible. Price: Rs. 14,000

Apart from this range, Altec Lansing also has a bunch of other speakers, headphone and all-weather in-ear headphones which will be coming soon to the market. The new range of Altec Lansing products will be available online from Flipkart as well as retail stores including Croma and Reliance Digital.
