Airtel Launches 4G Services In Punjab

Bharti Airtel, a telecom services provider with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, has announced the launch of Airtel prepaid and postpaid 4G services in Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula.

Jagbir Singh, CTO & Director, Network Services Group, Bharti Airtel said, “The much awaited launch of Airtel 4G services fulfills a huge market requirement and will give customers in Chandigarh the power to upgrade to cutting edge 4G LTE technology - the most advanced wireless broadband experience available across the globe today. This launch is another first by Airtel that further enhances the footprint of mobile broadband in India. We are optimistic about the potential of Airtel 4G services and invite our data savvy customers in Punjab to enjoy this world class data experience”.

In 2010, Airtel had successfully bid for BWA license spectrum in Kolkata, Karnataka, Punjab and Maharashtra (excluding Mumbai) circles. Additionally, earlier this year, Bharti Airtel acquired 49 per cent interest in Qualcomm AP’s India entities that hold BWA licenses in Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana and Kerala. The company has launched its 4G LTE services in Kolkata, Bengaluru, Pune and now Chandigarh, and is currently working towards rolling out state-of-the-art networks in remaining license circles.

CA World 2013 To Showcase How Cloud, DevOps Can Transform Biz Results
CA Technologies will host its largest user conference, CA World 2013, April 21 – 24, 2013, at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, NV. The event is expected to bring together more than 5,000 CA Technologies customers and partners to showcase its latest initiatives, including how to leverage DevOps, cloud computing and mobility for better business results.

CA World 2013 will kick-off CA Technologies new online video speaker series called Luminaries Live! Dell Boosts Its Inspiron Line-Up With New Inspiron 14R, 15R
Dell has announced new additions to the Inspiron laptop portfolio – 14R and 15R targeted at Gen Y consumers. Packed with new looks and style, these new products are a significant improvement over previous generations of Inspirons as they are available in a thinner form-factor and optimized for delivering better performance with an improved battery life.

Besides improved battery life, the new devices are available with i3, i5 and i7 processor options to suit the diverse requirements of users – be it multi-tasking at work or multimedia. The new products feature improved battery life achieved by combining battery with Intel’s ultra-low voltage processors which require only 17 watts to run. 

New Inspirons are under 2.54 cms (1-inch) thin which is 17 per cent thinner and 15 per cent lighter than previous models. Inspiron 15R can be ordered with the optional full HD displays supporting 1080p (1920 x 1080 resolution) with an anti-glare finish.

The new models also support higher-end features like 3x3 dual-band wireless support based on the latest Wi-Fi N standards, Bluetooth 4.0 support, HDMI 1.4a support, and stereo speakers with Waves MaxxAudio 4 processing that was introduced in our high-end XPS laptop line. They also come preloaded with Skype and H.264 enablement for HD video chats or calls. The inclusion of Intel wireless card supports Intel’s wireless display standard. Beyond these hardware and software enhancements, these laptops all have touchpads that are optimized to take advantage of multi-touch gestures in Windows 8.

Inspiron 14 R and Inspiron 15 R will be available with optional touch display by April 2013 at a starting price of Rs 36,000.

VMware Announces Partner Exchange 2013 On Tour
VMware, the leader in virtualisation and cloud infrastructure, has announced Partner Exchange 2013 on Tour for the India and SAARC region. The tour aims to enable partners in the region to learn how to grow and transform their businesses for the cloud era with VMware.

KPMG Announces Utkarsh Palnitkar As Partner, National Head
KPMG in India has announced the appointment of Utkarsh Palnitkar as Partner & National Head of Transactions & Restructuring practice and National Head of Life sciences practice.

Utkarsh Palnitkar joins KPMG from Centrum Capital, a large financial services company, where he was an Executive Director. Prior to this, he was associated with Ernst & Young (E&Y) for 15 years. During this period, he was the leader of Advisory as well as the Life sciences practice, while also being the office managing partner of E&Y’s Hyderabad practice.

Utkarsh Palnitkar joined Ernst & Young in 1995 and was one of the youngest Partners at the firm. Having set up and lead the life sciences practice at E&Y, Utkarsh was associated with many pioneering initiatives such as India’s first Biotech park, Biotech incubator, Biotech focused Venture Capital fund and the first Bio-IT park. Co-chairman of the National Biodesign Strategy Committee of the government of India, Utkarsh has also been a member of several life sciences committees in India and overseas.

IDBI Bank To Accept Digital Signature For Net Banking Customers
IDBI Bank has partnered with eMudhra Consumer Services (eMudhra), a licensed Certifying Authority (CA), to implement digital signature based authentication solution to its corporate internet banking channel. IDBI Bank Corporate Internet Banking users now have the option to use a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC), procured from a Certifying Authority, to authenticate and digitally sign online transactions. IDBI Bank has taken the lead to expeditiously implement the solution following recent directives from RBI to Banks emphasizing upon digital signature enabled electronic banking transactions.
