Pollution in the national capital is on the rise and nobody knows what needs to be done to make our city less polluted. Installing air purifiers in your homes seems to be the only option left with us to breathe harmless air.

With a variety of air purifiers available in the market, most of us are not aware which is suitable for our homes. With smog rising in Delhi, brands like Philips, Moonbow, Honeywell, Eureka Forbes, and Kent are witnessing a spike in the sales of air purifiers.

The price of an air purifier can range anywhere between Rs 8,000 to Rs 1, 00,000. There are a variety of air purifiers available in the market and before buying them you should check which one is suitable. Air purifiers come in different shapes and sizes, check which one will suit you according to the room dimensions.

One thing that needs to be kept in mind is the noise level of the purifier. Try to opt for a purifier whose noise level is between 35 to 45 decibels, anything above that will create noise which you won’t like during your sleep.

Filters

The basic purpose of an air purifier is to filter the air inside the room which is fulfilled by HEPA filter. This filter only filters the air, to counter the odour you should buy purifiers with activated carbon filter. Also, there are some purifiers available with an anti-bacterial coating which tackles air-borne bacteria.

Many brands highlight UV feature in their air purifiers and we all have this perception that ultraviolet rays kill bacteria. These air purifiers release ozone which is very harmful to breathe.

The filter in every air purifier has a limited lifespan and it needs to be replaced at some point in time. Ask about the filter replacement cost. Most of the air purifiers come with a filter replacement indicator.
