After Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged Indians to buy domestic products more, during his national address, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), on Friday, supported his effort to strengthen the Vocal for Local" and also appealed to people to buy local goods especially during the shopping for forthcoming Diwali festival season.

The trade body said that the appeal of PM Modi is timely and will certainly influence and encourage the people to buy local goods.

CAIT National President, BC Bhartia and Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal, in a joint statement, said, "Adopting vigorously the appeal of PM Modi made last year, the CAIT launched an aggressive national campaign boycott Chinese products on 10th June 2020 and as a result of which the Indian business community with the active help of the people of the Country caused a business loss of more than 70 thousand crores of rupees to China from Raksha Bandhan up to New year festive season and this time no Indian trader has placed an order to China related to Diwali festivity goods."

The gap of less import from China has been filled with the purchase of Indian goods and thereby CAIT promoted the "Vocal for Local" mission of PM Modi, said the CAIT.

Meanwhile, the trade body showed its disappointment, that in spite of the appeal of PM Modi, the government authorities have failed to check the great influx of foreign goods including China goods that are being sold on e-commerce platforms of Amazon, Flipkart' and a few other platforms.

"Why are authorities not taking action against them," the trade body asked.

No one is obeying this rule and the authorities are continuously obliging e-commerce portals by turning a blind eye. Vocal for Local can’t be successful by the traders or the people. The Government authorities should also take action, said the CAIT.
