After Emergency Maintenance Income Tax Portal Live, Informs Infosys

The emergency maintenance of the Income Tax India portal has concluded and the portal is live. We regret any inconvenience caused to taxpayers, it tweeted.

Multinational IT firm, Infosys on Sunday informed that after the emergency maintenance of the Income Tax official portal, which was unavailable for two days is concluded and it is now live to access. 

Infosys India Business, took to Twitter and wrote, "The emergency maintenance of the Income Tax India portal has concluded and the portal is live. We regret any inconvenience caused to taxpayers."

Meanwhile, the site of the new Income Tax e-filing portal www.incometax.gov.in which was developed by Infosys was facing technical glitches from the day of its launch on June 7 and a lot of users complained that several functions of the site were either unavailable or working slow.

Earlier, Infosys India Business tweeted that the portal was under "emergency maintenance". It wrote, "The Income Tax India portal continues to be under emergency maintenance. We will post an update once the portal is available again for taxpayers. We regret the inconvenience."

The Ministry of Finance also "summoned" Infosys Managing Director(MD) and Chief Executive Officer(CEO), Salil Parekh, to put forward his stand and explain the possible reasons for these glitches to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. 

The government of India, in 2019, gave a contract to Infosys for the development of the next-generation income tax filing system which will help users and will decrease the processing time for returns from 63 days to one day and facilitate refunds. The government of India has paid a total of Rs 164.5 crore to Infosys for developing the portal, till June 2021.
