Gaurav Kumar through his company Vivriti Capital has pioneered the enterprise debt market. Before Vivriti Capital, Kumar was one of the early-stage employees of IFMR Capital. He was involved in providing capital market solutions to clients and responsible for building a strategic partnership with clients, business origination, credit appraisal, structuring and long term strategy of the organisation. Leaving the company along with his Co-founder Vineet Sukumar, Kumar took an entrepreneurial leap to start something that was almost considered outlandish, then was a big step. Vineet and Kumar were however firm in their conviction that creating tech-based and scalable enterprise debt market was critical to making the financial ecosystem more inclusive.

Vivriti Capital owns and operates first and the largest B2B enterprise finance platform solution or online marketplace in India. This is one of the most comprehensive automated credit and structured finance transaction solution available globally. The product addresses a critical gap in the debt capital market space in India and today is a leading player in facilitating access to finance for a large spectrum of enterprises/corporate. The company has developed its solution based on extensive experience of the founding team in this space and along with a nuancedunderstanding of the market. CredAvenue, its marketplace brings together the entire debt market ecosystem in a tech-led solution thereby bringing about much-needed efficiency, price discovery and transparency in the debt market space.

Kumar finds Vivriti’s tech-led aspect as its key differentiating factor. Both the founders believed that the skewed nature and limited scale ofcurrent debt capital markets can only be addressed through a marketplace approach that brings in efficiency, transparency and scale.Kumar says, “CredAvenue, our platform was designed with this view and the success is evidenced by the participation and volumes generated. What also has been a differentiating factor is our ability to provide end-to-end transaction support ranging from credit prospecting, evaluation, execution, monitoring and AI-driven risk management solutions.”

Spearheading the company, Gaurav has through his startup has supported over 500 corporates and financial institutions. He is an advisor of the technology marketplace and advises the management on digital strategy and business plan. Kumar added, “At Vivriti, we also believe in having skin in the game meaning that we take exposure in issuers and deals. This has helped to further strengthen investor confidence particularly in case of smaller and emerging entities.”

When Kumar started Vivriti Capital, he was at the peak of an established leading entity. However, his experience has helped create such a successful business model. Gaurav has created the first and largest B2Benterprise debt marketplace of India that today counts over 200 originators and more than 100 investors as users with deal volumes of over Rs 26,000 crores in less than three years! The institution he has created has the pace and hunger that a startup brings, clubbed with the consistency and sustainability of more seasoned entities. The growth has been blistering while also being profitable fromthe start. Gaurav and Vivriti have transformed an outlandish idea of having a comprehensive credit and transaction platform to a reality -a market leader.
