With four years in office, common sense says that anti-incumbency should dent the BJP’s chances when the country goes to polls next years. However, a survey commissioned by BW Businessworld in association with Decode suggests that PM Narendra Modi and the BJP will bounce back to power with a comfortable majority.

In the survey, 88 per cent of India thinks that PM Narendra Modi and the BJP will come back to power in 2019 when the country goes to polls. As many as 78 per cent of the people think that Modi’s four years in power have been good or better. These are some of the key findings of a survey done by BW Businessworld in association with Decode.

The government’s ratings have, however, seen a marginal dip, as when compared to a similar survey last year, commissioned by BW Businessworld with Decode. While 74 per cent of the people had said that Modi was the best ever PM, in the last year’s survey, last year the figure stood at 82 per cent.

On the completion of four years in office, as many as 90 per cent of the people said that the performance of the government at the Centre had improved, when compared to the previous government.

Among the most significant achievements of the government, the respondents listed “power for all”, DBT, GST, infrastructure development, and demonetization.

Job creation, Women’s safety, and ailing PSUs were listed as the biggest disappointments.
