'Women Far Ahead Of Men In Digital Courses'

Women also lead men in the completion rate for the digital courses. According to the data, 86 percent women tend to complete the digital course slightly higher compared to men which strands at 82 percent.

Women opting for digital courses are 36.69 percent higher compared to men, even as the overall ratio of Indians going for higher education remains on the heavier side for men with a ratio of 82:18, according to a survey by Emeritus Institute of Management.

Ashwin Damera, executive director, Emeritus Institute of Management told ET, “Our data indicates that women have recognised the need to up skill themselves with future-relevant skills for the roles of tomorrow. Also, digital jobs are in high demand. Therefore, women are willing to take time from their work-life balance to up skill and enhance their careers.”

Women coming into digital courses are majorly from IT, media, consulting and e-commerce sectors. Most popular digital courses for women include digital marketing, digital marketplaces and digital strategies for business.

He added, “Women apart, there are many students with work experience of more than 20 years who have opted for online courses. Digital strategies for business, leading organisations and change, and leading innovation are the courses most popular with them.”

The institute data unveils that professionals with 3 to 8 years of work experience prefer courses in digital marketing, digital marketplaces and corporate finance, while those with work experience of 8 to 15 years mostly prefer design thinking and digital marketing while people with 15 to 20 years of experience prefer online courses in digital strategies for business, design thinking and leading organisations.
