The pandemic has brought changes to individuals and businesses across the globe. As a result, leadership is undergoing a change. What will leadership in the post Covid-19 world entail?

In times when uncertainty prevails, and people are unsure of where to turn, they turn to leaders to be the guiding light, and help illuminate the darkness overpowering everything. However, this pandemic was unprecedented, and therefore, even leaders are learning to cope with it, and are maneuvering through a situation like this for the very first time.

At a recent BW Businessworld webinar, Anshu Budhraja, CEO of Amway India placed great emphasis on how ‘culture eats business’, and how he is currently focusing on enhancing and improving everything. He further stressed on the fact that it is imperative to get the right people on the bus, as times like these require ‘specialized people’, who will perform well in the ‘operation theatre’, thrust in everyone’s faces.

Breaking down what leaders need to do in these times, Budhraja outlined four basic attributes every leader should attempt to inculcate: “decisiveness: which is to go with ones gut, engagement: communicate, and interact with all the stakeholders present, adapting: to fail fast, fix fast, and to learn fast should be ones motto, and lastly, reliability: every leader has integrity, but needs to now be authentic in their approach”.

Budhraja went on to discuss how hearing the ‘voice of the consumer’ is important, along with ‘having a growth mindset’.

When asked how he is managing his personal life, and balancing everything, Budhraja pointed out, that at home he had to learn to blend in, and understand that money is not everything.

Closing with few simple ideologies, he highlighted that “to love to learn, to lead with the heart, and to live to serve” is imperative.
