'Conflict Retards Human Development'

Why this book? And why should a reader pick up this book?
Conflict and chaos have become a way of life in all societies and communities. The trick lies in preventing conflict in first place. Conflict retards human development and economic growth, creates a society that’s at war with itself. This book outlines the premise that conflict prevention and peace is everybody’s business; and not government’s alone.

What does the book mean to you?
The book means a lot because I have shared my practical experiences as a senior military commander in a conflict zone. My experience will give others an alternative perspective.

How difficult was it to put the book together?
Not difficult because I keep daily notes of my experiences, books I read, and people I meet.
 

Where all did this book take you?
Since I was commanding military forces in Ladakh, I didn’t have to travel outside the theatre. However, my earlier experiences of combating insurgency in the Kashmir Valley and Sri Lanka (1989-1990), proved useful.

What’s your energy drink?
Tea and coffee since I am a teetotaller

What makes a book a really good read or a bestseller?
A book that is easy to understand, inspring, presenting innovative ideas, and racy.

What are you reading now?
The X-Factor in Leadership.

My third book on the X Factor.
