"Avengers: Infinity War" Mops Up $630 Million Worldwide On Opening Weekend; Shatters All-Time Box Office Records

The heroes of Avengers: Infinity War, not only defeated their enemy at the weekend. They also smashed a stack of box office records.

The latest Disney and Marvel Studios' film racked up the biggest U.S. opening weekend of all time, with $250 million dollars. And the largest worldwide ticket sales, at $630 million dollars.

Previously, 20-15's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" held the U.S. record, while Fate of the Furious released in 2017, held the global record. "Infinity War" also scored the largest single Saturday gross, largest single Sunday gross, largest April opening, largest Spring opening, widest PG-13 release and fastest film to $150, $200 and $250 million.

And all that without China where it doesn't open until May 11. "Infinity War," brings together 20 different superheroes including Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, Black Widow and Black Panther for an all-out battle with supervillain Thanos.

They hope to soar over other box office records as they continue to find audiences around the world.
