Rajesh Magow, CEO and Co-founder of MakeMyTrip.com wants the government to take steps to boost the travel industry. Talking to BW|Businessworld, he hoped this year's budget will be growth oriented and that government will avoid what effectively amounts to double taxation in this sector.

To promote the tourism industry, Magow wants the government to take three steps

a)In case of airlines, the move to 100% FDI in airlines has to be followed through. Cost of operation is very high for airlines and government should help by reducing fuel surcharge and rationalising airport charges

b) Intriduction of FDI in Railways will also be a welcome move and government should go ahead with this step

c) The hotels sector has an inventory of 300,000 rooms but this is not enough in the Indian context. So hotels should be given tax holidays

Furher, to promote entertainment tourism, Magow says, India should come up with theme parks as internationally this has huge potential to draw tourists.
